10th Annual Alcatraz Swim for Sight

Raising Funds to Fight
Blindness Globally

In 2011, the Alcatraz Swim for Sight was started by That Man May See Board Members Ron and Lorie Hirson. Due to an inherited retinal disease, retinitis pigmentosa, Lorie has been gradually losing her vision, and one of her bucket list goals was to swim from Alcatraz to the San Francisco shore. Since then, the Swim has been a celebration of community, raising awareness and funds for research toward helping save and restore sight.

The 10th Annual Alcatraz Swim for Sight was held on Saturday, October 23, 2021.

2021 Goal

This year’s Alcatraz Swim for Sight’s goal, through your support, is to raise $250,000 – which will bring the swim’s fundraising efforts close to $1 million dollars!

The 2021 beneficiary is That Man May See and 100% of the funds raised will support research to identify treatments and cures for blindness.
