Stock Transfers

Maximize your charitable impact by donating appreciated securities and mutual funds. To transfer stocks electronically (DTC) from your broker to ours, follow these steps:

1. Notify Us: Please inform All May See Foundation of your intended stock gift in writing (by mail, fax, or email) with the following details:

1. • Your name, mailing address, and phone number
   • Your broker’s name and contact information
   • Name and number of securities to be transferred
   • Expected date of transfer
   • Any gift restrictions (e.g., general, faculty, or project support, etc.)
   • For pledge payments, include specific pledge details
   • Your signature

2. Provide Broker Information: Share the following details with your broker:

Once the transfer is complete, we will send you a confirmation with the transfer date and the stock’s average market value, essential for your tax deduction.

How to Make a Charitable Contribution from Your IRA:

1. Eligibility:
   • You must be at least 70½ years old.
   • You can donate up to $100,000 per year via a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD).
2. Choose a Qualified Charity:
   • The donation must go directly to a 501(c)(3) organization, such as the All May See Foundation.
   • Private foundations and donor-advised funds usually don’t qualify.
3. Arrange the Transfer:
   • Request a direct transfer from your IRA to the charity.
   • Contact your IRA custodian to handle the transfer process.
4. Tax Considerations:
   • While you won’t get a tax deduction, the QCD amount will be excluded from your taxable income, which can be tax-efficient.
5. RMDs:
   • If you must take Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) starting at age 73, a QCD can satisfy this requirement without increasing your taxable income.
6. Notify the Charity (allmaysee@ucsf.edu) :
   • Inform All May See Foundation that your contribution is coming from an IRA so they can acknowledge it properly. Please include: Name, address, expected date of transfer, phone number and email so we can contact you if there are any questions.

Important Reminders:

• Complete the transfer by December 31 to count for that tax year.
• Keep documentation for tax purposes.
