All May See Foundation Celebrates 50 Years – Honors Dr. Stephen McLeod and Kathleen Rydar
We did it! After waiting more than two years to celebrate our 50th anniversary and honor the departure of Dr. Stephen McLeod, former chair of UCSF Ophthalmology and Kathleen Rydar, former President, That Man May See, we finally were able to come together on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at San Francisco’s Chase Center in conjunction with the Andrea Bocelli concert.
The event raised more than $200,000 for vision research. There were more than 150 attendees which included faculty, staff, donors, board members and friends for a cocktail reception, dinner and live concert performed by Andrea Bocelli and his 10-year-old singing sensation daughter!
We are excited to report that 39 faculty and staff of UCSF Ophthalmology and Proctor Foundation were among the attendees.
Earlier this year we raised more than $1,040,000 from 75 donors to create the Stephen D. McLeod, MD Endowed Chair in Ophthalmology; created a new research and equipment fund also in his name and raised $362,078 from 79 donors for the Kathleen Rydar Inspiration Fund. All these gifts will be dedicated to curing and preventing blindness, serious eye diseases, and visual impairment so that everyone in the world can see.
At the event, Dr. Michael Drake, UC President, surprised Dr. McLeod with the, Stephen D. McLeod, MD Endowed Chair in Ophthalmology. In addition, Dr. Talmadge King, UCSF Dean of the School of Medicine, announced the Stephen D. McLeod Research and Equipment Fund. Dr. McLeod presented Kathleen Rydar with a certificate commemorating the Kathleen Rydar Inspiration Fund. All May See Foundation Board Chair, John de Benedetti congratulated Dr. Jacque Duncan on her first day as our new Chair!
Special thanks to Don and Judy McCubbin and the Wayne and Gladys Valley Foundation who provided the lead gifts for the McLeod Endowed Chair. We raised more than $100,000 in event sponsorship which included the Koret Foundation; John Hall and Rebecca Derrington; The Ron Conway Family; Mo and John Pritzker; Nancy and Sandy Robertson; Nancy Voorhees; Leftwich Event Specialists, Inc. and two anonymous donors.
On behalf of the board and staff of All May See we wish to thank everyone for their generous support.
