On Sunday, June 8, 2025, members of the All May See Foundation’s 20/20 Legacy Society, All May See Board members and special guests gathered at the historic St. Francis Yacht Club for an inspiring afternoon celebrating legacy, innovation, and the future of vision science.
The event began with a lively social hour overlooking San Francisco Bay, followed by a seated luncheon and a compelling program highlighting the impact of philanthropic partnership in advancing eye care and research.
As part of the Foundation’s Innovation Series, this year’s program featured thought leaders from UCSF Ophthalmology and the Francis I. Proctor Foundation. While Dr. Aparna Lakkaraju was unable to attend due to illness, Dr. Jacque Duncan, Chair of UCSF Ophthalmology, graciously stepped in to provide opening remarks, and speak to the power of philanthropic support in driving progress in treatments for macular degeneration and other vision-threatening diseases.
We were honored to hear from Dr. Thomas Lietman, Director of the Francis I. Proctor Foundation, who introduced the session on global eye care and emphasized UCSF’s commitment to reducing preventable blindness around the world.
Dr. Jeremy Keenan, Director of International Programs at the Proctor Foundation, then delivered a powerful presentation on strategies for expanding access to diagnostics and treatment in remote communities. His talk spotlighted innovative approaches being used in rural Nepal—from portable technology to train-the-trainer models—that are transforming how eye diseases like glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy are detected and managed.

To our Legacy Society members and friends: thank you. Your thoughtful estate commitments are helping ensure UCSF’s world-class research, training, and care continue to grow—so that one day, all may see.
