Kieran O’Brien, PhD, MPH; Assistant Professor, Ophthalmology; and, Sriranjani Padmanabhan, MD; Associate Professor, Ophthalmology were recently awarded $265,000 from the Fox Family Foundation to support Advancing Ocular Health Equity at the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (ZSFG).
This three-year project will facilitate understanding of existing ocular and visual health disparities which exist in this low-income, high-risk population and identify potential areas to implement interventions. The researchers propose a data-driven approach to develop and test interventions that address key disparities in ocular health care at ZSFG.
Fox Family Foundation recognizes that vision loss and blindness come at tremendous personal and societal costs, ranking among the top ten causes of disability in the United States. Their mission is to break the link between poverty and vision loss. Fox Family Foundation supports programs, policies, and investments that protect vision and eye health, provide care and services to those in need and develop workforce readiness programs that enable diversity and inclusion.
Congratulations to Drs. O’Brien and Padmanabhan! We wish you great success on this exciting project!
