To change the fate of babies and children with inherited retinal degenerations, the Claire Giannini Fund recently awarded $515,000 for Dr. Jacque Duncan’s research program. Using adaptive optics technology, she will image patients’ rods and cones in great detail.

The funds also will help establish a UCSF “reading center” for uniform analysis and interpretation of the novel images. This center will position UCSF as the premier site for collaborative, multicenter adaptive optics-based clinical trials and pave the way for future breakthroughs. Foundation Fighting Blindness also supports Dr Duncan’s work.
