On April 30, 2020, following 16 years of loyal and dedicated service, our beloved president Kathleen Rydar retired. Kathleen spearheaded the efforts to raise $188 million to construct the new Wayne and Gladys Valley Center for Vision at Mission Bay. Her husband, Tom Boyden, served in the role of president for the 10 years prior and did an outstanding job as well.
In anticipation of a time when we may celebrate in-person Kathleen’s retirement and her many accomplishments at That Man May See, we have established a special fund as a way to honor her, say farewell, and carry on the vital work already begun to help establish UCSF’s Department of Ophthalmology as the best eye institute in the world.
The Kathleen Rydar Inspiration Fund will secure the future of the vital research needed now more than ever, to educate the next generation of ophthalmology leaders, and continue to provide outstanding vision care for individuals residing in the Bay Area and beyond. We would like to raise at least $2 million for this fund. Not only will this honor one of All May See’s most passionate leaders, but will also ensure lifetimes of vision by initiating new avenues of discovery.
We would be delighted and honored if you joined us in committing a gift to the Kathleen Rydar Inspiration Fund. Your generosity now helps us imagine a world in which, one day, all may see.
