Dr. Schekman will present “Extracellular Vesicles and Cellular Homeostasis,” exploring the intricate processes cells use to transport molecules and communicate with one another.
Dr. Schekman received the 2013 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his groundbreaking discoveries of the genetic machinery that regulates vesicle transport within cells. His pioneering research revealed how cells package and deliver essential molecules, advancing our understanding of fundamental cellular processes.
His discoveries have also had a profound impact on biotechnology, helping pave the way for the production of important protein-based medicines, including insulin and human growth hormone.
The lecture offers a unique opportunity to hear from one of the world’s leading scientists about the mechanisms that maintain cellular function and their broader implications for biomedical research.
