All May See Foundation Awards $300,000 to Support Education and Training at UCSF Ophthalmology

April 30, 2026

The All May See Foundation is proud to announce $300,000 in funding through its annual Chair Awards, as requested by Dr. Jacque Duncan, to support education and training within the UCSF Department of Ophthalmology.

These investments are essential to advancing the next generation of ophthalmologists assuring that residents and medical students receive the training, mentorship, and resources needed to become leaders in vision research and patient care.

Investing in the Future of Ophthalmology

The 2026 Chair Awards include support for two critical education programs:

Resident Education Fund
This funding supports UCSF’s nationally recognized ophthalmology residency program. The award helps recruit and train top-tier residents, providing opportunities for mentored research, publication, and participation in national scientific meetings. Through this support, residents gain the experience and expertise needed to advance the field as future clinician-scientists and academic leaders.

Medical Student Education Fund
This funding enhances medical student education through the UCSF Bridges Curriculum. Support includes the development of new curricular and didactic materials, student travel and conference participation, academic mentoring, and hands-on clinical and microsurgical training. The award also supports student-led educational programming and research presentations at national meetings.

A Commitment to Education and Excellence

By investing in education, the All May See Foundation helps ensure that UCSF continues to attract and train the brightest minds in ophthalmology. These programs not only strengthen the academic and clinical excellence of the department but also contribute to advancements in research and patient care that benefit communities worldwide.

“Supporting education is one of the most impactful ways we can advance our mission,” said Deborah Chesky, President of the All May See Foundation. “These programs provide the foundation for innovation, discovery, and compassionate care for generations to come.”
