The All May See Foundation is proud to celebrate that UCSF Ophthalmology continues to be ranked among the Top 10 vision centers in the nation and Best in Northern California in the U.S. News & World Report 2026-27 Best Hospitals Survey, reflecting the extraordinary work taking place across the Department of Ophthalmology and the Francis I. Proctor Foundation.

Among this year’s many accomplishments, Nisha Acharya, MD, MS, was honored with the 2026 Mildred Weisenfeld Award from the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), recognizing her distinguished contributions to ophthalmic research and clinical care. Her work exemplifies the innovative spirit that continues to position UCSF among the world’s leading vision research institutions.
Educating Tomorrow’s Leaders

UCSF’s nationally recognized residency and fellowship programs continue to prepare future leaders in ophthalmology while expanding opportunities for physician-scientists and clinician-educators. This year, Saras Ramanathan, MD, Residency Program Director, received the 2026 Bradley R. Straatsma Award for Excellence in Resident Education from the Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology (AUPO), recognizing her outstanding commitment to mentoring and educating future ophthalmologists.
