For nearly a decade, UCSF medical students, residents, and faculty have provided free eye care services to people experiencing homelessness through the UCSF Ophthalmology Shelter Clinic in San Francisco. Operating at the Division Circle Navigation Center, the student-run clinic offers comprehensive eye exams, replacement glasses, referrals for advanced care, and compassionate support that helps restore independence and improve quality of life. The program reflects UCSF Ophthalmology’s commitment to expanding access to vision care while training the next generation of ophthalmologists to serve communities in need.
