We are proud to announce that three members of our Department of Ophthalmology, Gerami Seitzman, MD; Melissa Neuwelt, MD; and, Sriranjani Padmanabhan, MD were recently nominated for the Fourth Annual Muriel Steele Surgical Honor Roll.
This award celebrates influential and inspiring women faculty, fellows, and residents in surgery and surgical sub-specialties. Current fellows, residents, and medical students are invited to nominate women who have had a positive impact on their training.
The Muriel Steele Society (MSS) is an inclusive community dedicated to inspiring, supporting, and promoting women surgeons so they can thrive at all stages of their careers. The society is named in honor of Muriel Steele, MD, a true trailblazer. She was the first woman accepted to Stanford’s surgical training program in 1957, the first woman surgeon at what is now Zuckerberg San Francisco General, and the first woman admitted to the Pacific Coast Surgical Association in 1977.
Congratulations to these outstanding women leaders!
